Those Three Chapter 31
At school, people whispered about Lacy. Her bruises stood out. She didn’t like people whispering about her, but tried her best to ignore it. At lunch, Lacy sat by Katie, Alana, Max, and Craig.
“Man, she really hurt you bad.” Max says looking at Lacy. “Why didn’t you just press charges on the bitch?”
“I would’ve but… She would’ve just told them I hit her too first anyways… Even if she was starting with me. God. I can’t stand Peg.” Lacy replies and takes a bite of her soup.
“She broke your arm though…” Alana frowns at Lacy. Alana was sitting next to Lacy and Max. Across from them was Katie and Craig.
“I think my arms officially grew 10 feet long.” Craig said with a smile.
“And you’re proud of that?” Katie asks. Craig laughs.
“I am trying to make a joke because I been helping Lacy carry her books to classes. People are going to think she’s my side chick.”
“Hey! That’s not funny!” Katie snaps at Craig and pushes him lightly. He just laughed about it.
“But in the past, I was such a man slut.” Craig says laughing. “Or a pimp. What do you call a guy who slept around?”
“A dildo.” Lacy responds and Max laughs and spits some of his milk out.
“A dildo? How can I be that? Was I just some toy for women’s pleasure before?” Craig asked with a smile. Katie blushes.
“W-Would you just be quiet now, please?” Katie felt embarrassed with what Craig was asking.
“Where’s Ronnie? Why didn’t he come to school today?” Max asks, changing the subject completely.
“Probably banging Stephanie.” Lacy answers and takes another bite of her soup.
“Do we seriously have to bring the conversation back to sex?! Now I got an image in my mind I don’t need!” Katie says feeling nervous and embarrassed. She rubs her fingers on her temple trying to erase the mental image she was coming up with.
Lacy finishes up her soap and looks at Katie. “Oh, calm down. It’s not like Ronnie gives terrible sex. He’s got a nice size and last time I had it with him, he’s pretty good.” Lacy says and Katie rubs her temples more.
“Should you be bosting about Ronnie’s sex if you’re with Robert?” Max asks and Lacy shrugs.
“Robert’s sex is definitely better… He makes me so we-“
“Please stop!” Katie says and Lacy just stares.
After lunch, Lacy was tired and ended up passing out at her desk. Alana saw her pass out and was surprised the teacher didn’t say nothing to her for napping in class. Which Alana assumed possibly the teacher knew she had to be hurting with all those bruises on her.
Before school was over, the principal pulled Lacy to the side and asked her what had happened to her.
“Please, have a seat. Can you explain to me why you have these bruises, Miss Leamer?” The principal asked. He was an old man sitting in his chair at his desk. Grey hair, wearing a suit. Lacy didn’t care much for the principal. Mr. Reynolds. She thought he was annoying and a little nosey. She had gotten her share of trouble with him for a while now since he became the new principal last year.
“Look, it was an accident. It’s not really a big deal. I am going to be fine.” Lacy answered and took a seat down in one of the chairs in front of the desk.
“Sometimes when people say it was an accident or it’s not a big deal, are covering for someone that hurt them. Can you tell me about that, Lacy?” Lacy shakes her head.
“If you’re trying to accuse my parents for being abusive you’re wrong. They didn’t do this to me. I got into a fight with someone. Not hard to believe. I mean considering my reputation and all.” Lacy rolls her eyes. Wanting this to be over with. Quickly as possible. She didn’t want to feel like she was being interrogated.
“You do seem to get yourself in trouble at lot in school. Whether it’s a fight with another peer or teacher. But this could be brought on from issues from home.”
“Look. You can contact my parents or whatever.” Lacy stood up from the chair. “Whatever you’re trying to get at is going to end up nowhere. I got into a fight. That’s the end of the discussion. Now I am going. I would like to go home and relax. You just pissed me off today so I probably won’t do any of my homework.” Lacy leaves the principal’s office and saw Alana standing outside it. She looked worried.
“Are you alright? Did he get you in trouble for something? You didn’t do anything!” Alana panicked but Lacy just laughs a little.
“Hey, it’s okay. I am not in trouble. Just him getting nosey because of my bruises and broken arm. He thinks someone at home could be abusing me.” :Acy responds as they both began to walk away from the principal’s office.
“But no one is abusing you at home. Your parents aren’t like that…” Alana says. She even felt offended from the principal. “Did you tell him that?”
“I did. Look, don’t worry about it. It’s not like anything would happen. Even if he tried.” They make it to their lockers and was gathering their things. But Lacy had to have help getting her locker opened because of her broken arm, but tried her best getting her backpack and stuff together with her arm that wasn’t broken.
Robert was in his dad’s truck with him sitting in the passenger seat while Brice was driving.
“You sure you really don’t want to marry Amy?’ Robert asked. It just seemed odd to him considering that his dad and Amy were living together for about two years now. He was sure they would get married.
“I am not saying I haven’t thought of it, but Amy… I don’t love her.”
“Yet, you been with her two years?” Robert asks confused. Brice coughs a bit and puts the breaks on the truck when they stop at a red light.
“Did you love that crazy bitch? You know my insane mom? Peggy. Did you love her? Are you cautious of falling in love with anyone because of her?”
“Look Robert, I had many women in my life. Peggy, your mother… She was well there. The most popular in school back in the day. All the guys wanted her. And maybe I wanted people jealous… Well, I did love her a little. But it died. The one I love now… I can’t be with her… For now.” Brice says and when the light turns green he began to drive again.
“Her? You love someone actually? Why you with Amy then and not with her?” Robert asks.
“Because… The one I love… Would complicate things.”
“It will?” Robert was confused with his dad and didn’t understand what he meant. Brice drops Robert off at Robert’s home. His apartment. When he got inside the building he took the elevator to his floor and stopped at his door.
Stephanie’s apartment door opened when Robert was unlocking his door. Across the hall, Ronnie stepped into the doorway of Stephanie’s door. He looked at Robert.
“Thought I heard you out here.”
“You need something?” Robert asks his younger brother.
“Actually, no. But… How about we hang for a bit? Stephanie is working and I was waiting till I had to go pick her up in a couple hours.”
“I am guessing you didn’t go to school today? Why haven’t you been in school? Dad chewed me out about that.” Robert opened his door and Ronnie comes out of Stephanie’s apartment and shuts the door. He locks it behind him and follows Robert into his apartment and shuts the door.
“I don’t know why he gives a fuck if I go to school or not? You quit. Why can’t I?” Ronnie asks. “He gave you money to move in this apartment, helped you get a job. Let you quit school. Why?”
“Maybe because I am more determined to work than you?” Robert goes to his fridge and pulls out a soda can and opens it and takes a few sips of it.
“He probably would end up teaching you how to do his damn job and offer you to work with him. Right?” Ronnie asks and Robert sighs.
“I don’t feel like arguing with you. Did you know dad said he isn’t going to marry Amy?” Robert asked changing the subject.
“Good for him. The bitch is annoying.” Ronnie laughed and goes in Robert’s fridge and pulls a beer out and opens it and takes some sips. “I bet dad stocks these up for you too.”
“Drop it man. Dad told me he loves someone. But claims he can’t be with her right now. It will complicate things.” Robert puts his back to the counter in the kitchen. Ronnie was a bit surprised when he heard what Robert told him.
“Hey, maybe it’s Abbilynn? He did have a short fling with her few years ago. Before she got back with Lacy’s dad.” Ronnie guessed. Robert hadn’t thought of that. “Dad probably misses her incredible tongue.” Ronnie bursts into laughter but Robert didn’t find it amusing.
“You’re gross. And last time I checked, their relationship never went that far. Only kissing.” Robert says but Ronnie laughed more.
“Oh, how innocent minded you are. Rick’s words asking dad about Lacy’s tongue and dad’s face. Yeah. Dad and Lacy’s mom had sex.” Robert felt disgusted and didn’t want to hear or know about his dad’s personal life like that. “Bet you didn’t know she called him the ‘Veteran’ in bed?” Ronnie seemed to be amused talking about his dad and Abbilynn.
“And how the hell would you know that? You know what? Don’t tell me. It’s sick.” Robert sits his can od soda on the counter and made a getting sick face.
“Oh, I know lots of things I pretended to not here or see. Like Amy even calls dad that too in the bedroom and constantly questions about if he’s been seeing other women because of his ways.” Ronnie tells Robert but Robert didn’t want to hear anymore of it.
