It was evening and everyone was having dinner. Robert was sitting at the table with his brothers, dad, uncle, and cousin. “Should I wonder why uncle Mason couldn’t stay in his apartment? Probably lost his job. My guess.” Robert thought to himself.
“How long are they staying here?” Bryan asks his dad.
“Bryan, that’s rude to ask.” Brice responds to his son.
“Just tell him.” Mason tells his brother Brice.
“Alright.” Brice looks at Bryan. “They’re staying here for a while. Don’t get mad. They need a place to stay until uncle Mason gets up on his feet again.”
“No one better come in my bedroom!” Bryan selfishly said.
“No. No one is going to sleep in your bedroom. Uncle Mason and Michael will sleep in the attic.” Brice tells his son.
“You really don’t need to act selfish about sharing a bedroom. I share with Robert and I don’t get selfish.” Ronnie says to Bryan. Bryan glares at Ronnie.
“Well, I am not used to sharing my bedroom! I prefer being by myself!”
“You only want to be by yourself because you have teddy bears and don’t want to be embarrassed about it!” Ronnie says and laughed. Bryan blushes.
“I do not!” Bryan denies it. Actually, Bryan did have lots of teddy bears in his bedroom. It was full of them. He really didn’t want to share his bedroom because he didn’t w ant anyone seeing that he had a lot of teddy bears. He some reason just liked them. They made him feel better and comfort him when he was upset.
Lacy felt a little bit better talking to Robert and Ronnie. Asking them questions, but she didn’t want them to start wondering about her. She was sitting on her bed. Looking down at the floor. Peg came into the bedroom. “What are you doing?” She asks.
“None of your business.” Lacy responds.
“You’re like a bitch. You dress funny too. And I am skinnier and prettier. I also got bigger eyes!” Peg said with a smile. Lacy didn’t care. She left the bedroom and ignored Peg. She went into the living room and saw her dad. She was glad to see that he was home so she could talk to him.
“Where’s Pat?” Lacy asks her dad as she sat on the chair next to the sofa.
“She’s upstairs trying on clothes.” Rick answered honestly. “What? Do you need something?”
“Dad, I really need to talk to you. It’s important.” Lacy wasn’t sure how to tell him this. She felt embarrassed and nervous. “I really should wait till the third test, but…”
“What is it?” He asks already not liking where it was going.
“Dad, I did two pregnancy tests that mom gave me. They both came out…positive.” Lacy felt like she was trembling a little. “I…I need to get it confirm by a doctor.”
“You think you might be pregnant?” Rick asks her. She nods slowly. “This is just great. Abbilynn gives up on taking care of you and sends you over here. Pregnant. Dammit!” Rick got up and left the living room.
“Dad seems disappointed. I would be too. I am really a bad kid.” Lacy thought to herself.
The next day came. Lacy didn’t feel good. She felt sick to her stomach and even vomit in the bathroom. Her dad allowed her to stay home. Peg was mad that she couldn’t stay home too. Lacy’s dad already set up a doctor’s appointment for Lacy and gone to work. Lacy was lying on her bed. Feeling dizzy.
“My doctor’s appointment should be soon. I have about a week till I go. To confirm my pregnancy and everything.” Lacy touches her stomach. “I have a gut feeling that I am pregnant and I honestly wish I weren’t. But it’s my fault. I shouldn’t of been having sex. I don’t even know who the father is. I suspect it to be Ronnie since I never really had sex with Robert at the possible time of when I first got pregnant maybe. But I did had more sex with Robert from before.” Lacy felt confused.
Lacy got up. “I wish I wasn’t pregnant and I wished I knew what happened between my father and mother.” Lacy wanted to talk to her dad about what happened between him and her mother. It just seemed so odd and not right that he left her for someone like Pat. Is Peg his daughter really? Lacy was curious for all the answers.
Bryan was uncomfortable in class. Michael joined his class and was sitting behind Madison. “I really wish he wasn’t here.” Bryan thought to himself.
“Alright, I want everyone to pair up in a group. I will assign your group. We all be working on your homework about Egypt.” The teacher tells the students. She paired everyone in class. The last she paired Bryan, Michael, and Madison together. Bryan was not happy. Madison wasn’t happy either. She was glaring at him.
“Why did I have to be paired up with you?” Madison asks.
“Well, I don’t want to be paired up with you either!” Bryan snaps back at Madison. Michael was just staring at them both.
“I am going to ask the teacher if I can switch.” Madison was about to get up, but Bryan pulled her hair. “Ow! Why did you do that?!” Madison asks him. He just laughed.
“Madison you’re a crybaby!” Bryan said. She stood up and walks away.
“You shouldn’t be mean to her.” Michael tells Bryan.
“You decide to talk now? You don’t know nothing. I don’t like Madison! She is a brat! I can’t stand her!”
“Can’t stand her? But she really is pretty.” Michael says confused about Bryan. Hearing that made Bryan felt mad for some reason.
“She is not pretty!” Bryan didn’t want to hear Michael talk anymore about Madison. Madison came back and sat down on the floor.
“Stupid teacher won’t let me switch. I really hate this you know.” Madison felt angry.
“Don’t blame me. It’s your fault that you’re annoying, stupid girl.” Bryan says and stuck his tongue out at Madison.
“I am not! Can we just work on the assignment?!”
“Yes. The assignment is much more important than the fact that you two hate each other.” Michael said and stares at Madison. “Your hair looks nice in those ribbons.” He smiles a little. Madison blushes.
“T-Thank you.” Madison replies nervously.
“Yeah, yeah. Let’s just get with the work.” Bryan felt mad at Michael for giving Madison a compliment. He wasn’t sure why he felt angry about it. Bryan felt confused about his feelings.
After school, Bryan was sitting on the sofa. He was watching TV. Hoping to not think about his whole school day. It was horrible. Michael and Madison seem to get along too well and it hurt Bryan’s feelings for some reason. There was a knock at the door. “Who could that be?” Bryan wondered. Michael answered it.
“I am glad you came to stop by.” Michael says and lets Madison in. Bryan happened to peak and seen what had happened. Bryan glared.
“He invited her here?!” Bryan felt mad.
“It’s nice to invite me here. You are living with your cousins? How come?” Madison asks.
“Money problems.” Michael answers honestly. “Let’s go to the attic to work on homework.”
“That’s so sad about your problem. I hope we can get our homework done.” Madison says. They both went upstairs.
“I can’t believe this!” Bryan was angry. Ronnie and Robert were in the living room and was watching Bryan.
“I can’t believe you. You really like Madison don’t you?” Robert asks. Bryan looked back at his brothers. He was blushing.
“I do not! I just don’t like that fact that Michael invited her here! She doesn’t belong here!” Bryan denies it. He wasn’t sure how he really felt. He just wanted Michael and Madison to stop talking to each other. Bryan left the living room.
“He has the hots for Madison doesn’t he?” Ronnie asks Robert.
“I think he does.” Robert replied. Ronnie chuckled a little.
“Child crushes are cute, huh?”
“If you say so.” Robert answered.
Bryan went to spy on Madison and Michael. He just couldn’t bear the thought of them two alone together. “Why am I getting so worked up for? I don’t like Madison!” Bryan thought to himself as he peaked into the doorway. Madison and Michael were sitting on the floor working on their homework. “Madison really looks cute today.” Bryan blinked and realized what he just thought. “N-No! I didn’t think that! Madison looks ugly! She looks ugly! Bryan shook his head. But!!!” Bryan looked back at Madison. “She really is so freaking cute! She has the most beautiful light brown hair. Her cute big blue eyes. Those ribbons in her hair. That smile. Her cute clothes!” Bryan’s face was red as he stared at Madison.
Robert had gotten something to drink for him and Ronnie as they both were still watching TV together. “Do you think Lacy is alright?” Ronnie asks his older brother. “She didn’t show up for school today.”
“That is right, but dad doesn’t want us to keep hanging with her all the time. He really is disappointed in us for both sleeping with her.”
“I know, but I really like Lacy. Do you?” Ronnie asks. Robert wasn’t sure what to say.
“I don’t believe in love.” Robert blurts out and took a sip of his drink.
“If you don’t, then why do you say Lacy’s name in your sleep? Huh?” Ronnie teased. Robert spits his drink out.
“I do not!” Robert blushed.
“You do too. I caught you at night sometimes. Sometimes you wake me up saying her name. It’s not a lie.” Ronnie smiles devilishly.
“Whatever. I don’t.” Robert didn’t know if Ronnie was telling him the truth or not. He didn’t want to be teased about it.
“Maybe we should call Lacy and see if she’s doing alright.” Ronnie suggested. Robert got up.
“I’ll call her.” Robert went to the phone and dialed the number to the house Lacy was staying at. Lacy answered the phone.
“Hello?”
“Lacy, you wasn’t in school today. How come? Was you sick?” Robert asked. Lacy wasn’t sure how to respond. She didn’t want to tell him that she wasn’t feeling too well because she thinks she maybe pregnant. She didn’t want to speak about pregnancy to him. She wasn’t even 100% certain she was. She just had a nagging feeling telling her that she was though.
