“The doctor confirmed everything? That really must be something.” Alana says. She was talking to Lacy. They both were in a store together. “Are you going to start buying maternity clothes?”
“I really don’t know. Robert knows but I never had a heart to tell Ronnie about the pregnancy.”
“Ronnie is the one you think that got you pregnant, right?” Alana asked. Lacy nods.
“I feel like he might be, but I am really am not sure. I like this shirt.” Lacy pulled a black shirt off the clothing rack.
“Would you be able to wear that when you get bigger with your pregnancy?” Alana asked. Lacy shook her head.
“I don’t think so. I don’t know. I really don’t have any money though.” Lacy sits the shirt back.
“I have a lot. My dad really is rich! My mom is mean but…” Alana looks down. “She acts like she doesn’t care for my dad. Since my dad has been in the hospital a lot, my mom doesn’t see him. I go and see him when I get the chance to.”
“That’s good.”
Robert was smoking sitting in his bedroom. “I can’t do this anymore Lacy. I am done with her. I am moving on. Going to start dating and it won’t be Katie.” Robert got up and smashes his cigarette in his ashtray on his bed. He left the bedroom. He went to call up Lacy. He didn’t get her to answer, but he did left a voice message for her. He felt like he needed to.
“Lacy really is beautiful. She is very beautiful. But I shouldn’t love her. She is in love with Ronnie besides she thinks she’s in love with me too. Wait… Love doesn’t exist! Dammit!” Robert just felt frustrated. He was mad with Lacy even though he didn’t understand his feelings for her. He was confused about it and didn’t want to think anymore of it.
Alana had picked up the shirt that Lacy was looking at. “I can get this for you. Do you want me to?” Alana asks. Lacy shook her head.
“You don’t have to. I don’t want to take your money.”
“But I want to be nice. You’re my friend.” Alana says with a smile.
“If you say so, but I don’t want to take your money.” Lacy mumbles.
After Alana spent some time with Lacy, she had gone home. She heard her mother shouting on the phone. “WHAT DO YOU MEAN?! CLIFFORD I AM SICK OF THIS! I LIVE HERE AND YOU STAY IN THE HOSPTAIL ALL THE FUCKING TIME! I DON’T GIVE A DAMN IF YOU DON’T LIKE ME SEEING OTHER MEN! YOU SHOULD’VE THOUGHT ABOUT THAT BEFORE YOU DECIDED TO BE SICK!”
“What?” Alana couldn’t believe what she heard. “What is mother talking about?” Alana’s mother slammed the phone down and walks away. Alana went into the living room.
“Mother is fighting with daddy again. Daddy is so sick. Why does she pick on him?” Alana felt so bad for her father. Most of the time, he would be in the hospital. He barely was even home. He was very sick and Alana wanted to always see her dad. Her mother wasn’t exactly nice. She was never around for Alana either when she needed someone to talk to. “I can call up Craig. He really is cute.” Alana blushes. She had a small crush on Craig.
It was ever since she met him that she felt like she had a crush on him. He was nice and seemed sincere to her. “I do have my own cell phone my daddy got me. Maybe I can call Craig on it.” Alana gets up off the sofa and went to her bedroom.
Alana had a big bedroom. Her family was very wealthy. Alana’s father is the one that decorated Alana’s bedroom for her. It was filled with lots of toys as Alana liked to collect them. Alana sits down on her bed and dialed on her cell phone. She called Craig.
“Hello?” Craig was surprised to receive a phone call.
“Craig? Is that you?” Alana asked.
“It better be.” Craig laughed. “How are you doing?”
“I am doing just great, what about you?” Alana asks.
“Same with me, although I am worried about my little sister.”
“Worried about your little sister? What has been going on with her?” Alana asked.
“She has been sneaking off trying to see some older guy. I know she isn’t doing anything wrong with him, but I wish she would stop trying to see him. He’s too old for her and he really isn’t a great guy.”
“Who is he?”
“Tj. The guy that sells dumb shit in our school.” Craig tells Alana. She was surprised.
“I don’t believe it! Does he like your little sister?”
“He says he likes her, but doesn’t feel anything dirty towards her if you know what I mean. He promises not to touch her, but I don’t know. I just feel funny with Sabrina running off to him sometimes. I know they’re just hanging together but it makes me feel funny. What if when Sabrina turned 12 she decides to think she’s an adult and want to do stupid things with him?” Craig was worried about Sabrina. He didn’t want her to get caught up with having a crush on an older guy. He didn’t feel right about it.
“Well, I understand that Sabrina has a crush. Lots of girls have them. Sometimes crushes fade away though, but if she really does like him. A lot, then she probably won’t give him up. But I am sure she would do the right thing and not do anything bad with him. Besides you said he doesn’t think that way of her. Didn’t you say that?”
“Yes, I did. But I still worry. Tj dates other girls so Sabrina really isn’t in a relationship with him. They are just friends right now, but Tj told her that he’ll date her when she’s older if he isn’t married by then. That just really gets me worried because I don’t know if I could take her as a teenager dating him. He could be of age by then.”
“That seems likely. I hope everything works out though. Sabrina is a smart girl, I don’t think she would do anything wrong when she knows not to.” Alana said trying to make Craig feel better.
“Maybe so.”
“Do you like any girls at school?” Alana asks and blushed. Craig started to blush as well.
“Well… I did date Lacy actually once.” Craig admits. “But it didn’t work out. She likes Robert and Ronnie. And hell, that really would be hard for her to choose even between them.” Craig laughed a little.
“Is there any other girls that you might like?” Alana asks. She was hoping he would say he likes her. She liked him.
“Well… there is this girl that I have been liking for a while now.” Craig admits. He was blushing really red.
“Really?” Alana starts to get excited. “What does she look like?”
“Um…well…” Craig was nervous. “She has blonde hair.” Alana liked where it was going so far. She was a blonde. “She has the most beautiful eyes. Her personality is very nice. She is charming and I like her personality a lot.”
“What color is her eyes?” Alana wanted to know if it was her. She was hoping it was her.
“Green. She has green eyes.” Craig replies. Alana felt upset. Her eyes were not green. Her eyes were blue, this obviously was not her he was describing. It had to be another girl.
“Oh. What’s her name? Do I know her?” Alana was already upset.
“Yes you do know her. She is in some of our classes.”
“It isn’t Darlene in our history class is it?” Alana didn’t like Darlene. She was a blonde with green eyes. She was a mean girl in school and often picked on others.
“No. It’s not her. It’s one of your friends.” Craig blurts a little. “I really need to go. Bye!” Craig hangs the phone up. He couldn’t believe he told Alana about his crush. He had a crush on Katie and admitted it. It wasn’t until he spent some time with her that he realized that he likes her.
Alana felt upset. “My friend? Does he mean Katie? He likes Katie?” Alana sits her cell phone down on her bed and sighs. “Katie really is pretty and she is nice. But… why didn’t he like me? Maybe I am not nice or pretty like she is.” Alana felt upset but tried to hold it in. “Maybe a walk will help me when I am in this depressed mood. It should cheer me up and help me back in better spirits.” Alana gets up and left her bedroom. She left the huge house that she lives in just for a walk. She went walking in town. She had a lot on her mind.
“First crush turns out to like someone else. I guess its okay. I can’t be mad at Craig or Katie. They both are good people and probably would make a good couple. A better couple than I would make with him.” Alana thinks to herself. She had a crush on Craig since the moment she saw him. He was kind to her. He never says anything mean to her, but now she knows that she wouldn’t be able to date him.
“I should feel happy that he likes Katie. Katie is a good friend, but… I feel so upset. Crushes are so hard.” Alana sat down on a bench. She was at the park. Today was a chilly day, but there was no snow or rain. Someone came over and sat down by her.
“Tough day?” A familiar voice asked.
“You can’t imagine.” Alana looks at who was sitting by her, it was Max. He seemed to somehow always pop up out of nowhere in town.
“I had a rough day too. But… I can say it’s going alright. My grandpa is trying to talk to my parents which is good. They still have a lot to discuss. But at least they’re talking.” Max said and laughed a little.
“That’s wonderful that they’re talking. My dad and mom are fighting. My mom cheats on my dad while he’s sick in the hospital. Last time I spoke with my father, he said he wanted to divorce her. He couldn’t stand being married to her and didn’t care anymore what his parents think. Apparently, my dad told me that he was forced to marry my mother all because she was rich and his parents wanted the family to get more rich. It’s complicated.” Alana tries to explain to Max.
“That seems hard. I hope your dad gets better. He doesn’t deserve to be cheated on. I bet he really is a nice guy.” Max tells Alana. She nods.
“He’s nice. Nicer than my mom. My mom is very mean to me. She doesn’t talk to me at all and when she does, she will say something mean. Then she will tell me that I am like my father and she despises him.”
“You think your mother only married your father for the money? What if her family background wasn’t really that rich and just married your father to gain more money?” Max asked. Alana never thought of it that way.
“That does sound like a possibility. My mother is obsessed with money, she even takes money from my dad. She tries to take my allowance my dad gives me too at times.”
“She sounds like a total bitch. I don’t know why she treats you and your dad that way. My grandpa has been a jerk lately himself. He told me that he was sort of like dad. That he had a girlfriend, she was my grandma. She died young sometime after my dad was born. And grandpa was so angry with my father because he went with a younger girl like him. Grandpa got more mad because his girlfriend died, but my dad’s didn’t. It’s complicated, isn’t it?” Max felt like his grandpa had no right treating his parents wrongly.
“Max, I believe that if your parents and grandpa is finally talking they are making process. And as they make process, they would be able to get along and hopefully find a way for you to be able to see your parents. Or would you prefer living with them?” Alana asks.
“I would like to live with them, but… I don’t know. They’re moving close in town to grandpa. A big huge house that they are offering grandpa to stay in too.”
“Where did your parents get the money to get into a big house?” Alana asks.
“They been saving money, but I heard that my mom got a hold of her older sister. She has an older sister apparently that stopped talking to her because the parents made her. But now as an adult, she wanted to talk to my mom and finally got a hold of each other over the years. Weird huh? Well, my aunt gave some money to my mom for the house too. It’s closer to her and wanted the family to get back together.”
“You have an aunt? Your mother has an older sister? That’s weird that she wasn’t allowed to talk to her just because the parents didn’t want to. That must have been awful.” Alana looks down. Max just stared at Alana.
