Alana was buttoning her blouse back up. “I am sorry.” She apologized to Max.
“For what? You didn’t do anything wrong.” Max replies.
“Are you mad at me?” Alana asks.
“No. I am not mad.” Max responded. He wasn’t mad at Alana at all. “Maybe we should wait till we know each other more before we start on a new level. We did just started dating.”
“Thank you. I really do…” Alana blushes. “But I don’t think I am ready just yet.”
“That’s alright.” Max touched her shoulder.
“Why is he so…?” Alana thought to herself. She felt like she wanted to kiss him again but she didn’t.
“Maybe I should go.” Max said and stood up. He got off her bed.
“W-Wait!” Alana got up and hugs Max. He blushes.
“You don’t want me to go?” Max asked confused. Alana wasn’t sure why she ran and hugged him. Honestly, she wasn’t ready for him to leave just yet.
“D-Don’t… Not yet.” Alana said in almost a whisper. Max heard her.
“I’ll stay.” He says.
The next day had gone by. Robert noticed Lacy had not come to school. “I wonder if Stephanie predicted the future?” Robert thought to himself. He didn’t understand Stephanie and how she knew things. It was very different and he never heard of anything like it.
“I would ask Lacy about it, but she’s the last person I want to see right now. She’s probably miserable for losing a baby.” Robert was sitting at his desk. The teacher was going over a lesson, but Robert was not listening to it. He was thinking of Lacy. He was worried about her.
Ronnie was sitting looking down at his desk. “Lacy didn’t come to school. She lost a baby. My baby.” Ronnie thought to himself. He felt depressed. He stood up. The teacher stared at him confused.
“Ronnie why are you standing up?” The teacher asks. Robert stared at his brother.
“I don’t feel good. Can I go to the nurse’s office?” Ronnie asked.
“Alright. Go.” The teacher said and went back to her lesson. Ronnie left the classroom.
“Doesn’t feel good? What’s that all about?” Robert wondered. Ronnie was acting strange. He didn’t even eat breakfast before they left for school. Ronnie was walking in the hallway of the school.
“I want to see Lacy. I wonder if Lacy is depressed? I feel depressed. I don’t understand what happened. I feel so stupid.” Ronnie didn’t even went to see the nurse. Instead, he went into a storage room in the school. He sat down on the floor.
“Lacy…” Was all he could think say and think about.
At lunch, Robert was sitting with Craig, Katie, Max, Alana, and Stephanie. “Where’s Ronnie?” Alana asks Robert.
“I am not sure. He said he didn’t feel good and went to the nurse’s office. I should check on him.” Robert responded.
“Lacy isn’t here either, is she alright?” Craig asked.
“She might be depressed. Too depressed to come to school.” Robert mumbles. Alana knew why. Lacy had called her up and told her all about it. She felt bad for Lacy. Because Lacy was her dear friend and losing a baby was just terrible. Alana knew if it happened to her she would be miserable too. She wouldn’t want to come to school either.
“Poor Lacy.” Alana looked down.
“I am confused? What happened to her?” Katie asks. She didn’t understand what was going on. Neither did Craig. Alana and Robert knew very well what had happened. Stephanie did as well.
“Didn’t Lacy lose a baby?” Max asked. Robert was confused. He didn’t understand how he knew about that.
“Max!” Alana says and bumps her elbow towards his.
“Lost a baby?” Craig was confused.
“She was pregnant?” Katie couldn’t believe it. Her and Craig were surprised and confused.
“Oh man. I really am no good at keeping secrets.” Alana looks down. “I don’t want Lacy to get angry with me. She told me and then I accidentally let it slip up to Max after our date.”
“Date? You two went on a date?” Katie and Craig asked at the same time. Alana and Max blushed.
“Y-Yes… We both did.” Alana nervously responded. “We did.”
“You dating?” Craig asked. “I really am happy for you Max! You too Alana!” Craig smiled. Stephanie stood up.
“Where are you going, Stephanie?” Robert asked. She didn’t say a word and walks away. Robert got up and followed her.
“Who is that girl that Robert has been hanging with?” Katie asks.
“Some girl name ‘Stephanie’ I believe.” Craig answered. “So you and Alana really dating?”
“Yes…” Max answers.
“I am happy for you two!” Katie said. “I wish I had a boyfriend.”
Robert followed Stephanie out of the cafeteria. “Where are you going? How do you know about things?” Robert asks.
“I already told you it was a gift.”
“Then tell me this, is Lacy going to be okay?”
“You really do care about her, don’t you?” Stephanie asks. Robert didn’t respond. “I know you do. That’s why I said we will not work out. You care deeply for Lacy even though you don’t want to admit it. Even though you don’t want to admit that you’re in love with her in reality. You want to believe love doesn’t exist.”
“You didn’t answer my question! Is Lacy going to be okay?”
“Right now, she really is upset. But she will slowly coop with it”
“Who does Lacy really love? Ronnie or me?” Robert asks.
“You are asking about Lacy again? That doesn’t really come to a surprise to me. She really is confused on who she loves the most and feels that she loves both of you. But… is that something really possible?”
“I am not sure.” Robert looks down. “Is there anything you call tell me?”
“Robert, I am not really suppose to keep giving information out to you. You know that right? I am not even going to be around much longer.”
“What do you mean?” Robert asks.
“It’s nothing.” Stephanie walks away. Robert didn’t understand her. He still didn’t. He looked down.
“All I keep doing is thinking of Lacy. Just as Stephanie had said. That’s all I keep thinking of. I want nothing more than to be with Lacy. But then, I get upset because of the fact of Lacy liking Ronnie too. Then I don’t want to hurt Ronnie’s feelings. Besides, she got pregnant by him anyways…” Robert began to walk off. He went to check on Ronnie in the nurse’s office.
“What? He isn’t here? He never came?” Robert asks confused.
“That’s correct. Never seen him today.” The nurse tells Robert.
“That’s odd.” Robert walks out of the nurse’s office. “Where could Ronnie be?” Robert thought as he walks around in the hall.
Ronnie was sitting in the storage room. He just was deep in thought. Thinking of Lacy. He pulled a cigarette out and started to smoke. “Lacy was pregnant. She never even told me. She lost my baby. Our baby. How did she do it?” Ronnie wondered.
Robert was looking for his brother. He looked almost everywhere he could think of. Lunch was over and Robert really had to get to class, but he was wondering where Ronnie went. “Where’s Ronnie?” Robert saw a door. It was the storage room. It had cleaning supplies and other things. Robert went to the door and slowly opened it. When he opened the door, he saw Ronnie. Ronnie was smoking a cigarette.
“Ronnie, what the hell are you doing in here? Why aren’t you in the nurse’s office?”
“Shut up and leave me alone.” Ronnie rudely responds. Robert came into the storage room and shuts the door.
“Are you going to class?”
“I don’t give a damn about that.” Ronnie looked upset. Robert could tell.
“What is bothering you?”
“Lacy.”
“What about her?” Robert asks. He remembered that he never told Ronnie about Lacy’s pregnancy. Lacy never told him either. Robert never even spoke about the miscarriage. Robert’s dad didn’t even want him to, he was afraid it would hurt Ronnie. What could be bothering Ronnie?
“I am not stupid. You think I don’t know?”
“You know about what happened to Lacy?” Robert asks. Ronnie stood up.
“Damn straight I know. I fucking know everything. Dad telling you to not tell me. I have a right to know.” Ronnie glared.
“You do. I am not going to fight about that. You do have a right to know. But I was thinking of telling you later.”
“First you all keep the pregnancy a secret from me, then you all try to hide the miscarriage from me. Why wouldn’t Lacy tell me she was pregnant?”
“She didn’t even tell me, Ronnie. I overheard dad’s conversation on the phone. I think Lacy was really too scared to tell anyone. Her parents knew and then informed our dad about it. That’s when I heard it.” Robert explains to Ronnie.
“I am worried about Lacy. She didn’t even come to school today. I want to go see her.” Ronnie said looking down.
“We can go see her after school. Together if you want. But we have to take Bryan home first.” Robert said. Ronnie threw his cigarette on the floor and smashes it.
“NO! I want to see Lacy now!” Ronnie pushes pass Robert and ran out of the storage room.
“Ronnie…”
