Robert was staring at Lacy. She walks away from him and still looking down. “I do. I love you the most…” Lacy admits. “I have been acting strange lately because I been having dreams lately. Dreams of myself telling me that I love you more! I am such an asshole to Ronnie! I can’t even tell him right now!”
“Are you really telling me the truth?” Robert still was unsure if it was all a joke.
“I am not lying to you! I like you the most, sure I still like Ronnie but you come first to me! God, I like you so much! If I didn’t I wouldn’t of slept with you the most!”
“Lacy… I really am… Robert blushes very red. His heart was beating fast. He couldn’t believe that Lacy actually likes him the most. Lacy really liked one more than the other. He couldn’t believe that it was actually him. “Are you going to tell Ronnie?”
“NO! Not yet! Please don’t tell him! I am not ready to see him upset!” Lacy turned around. “Don’t tell him yet! I will when I am ready! Please!” Lacy hugged Robert.
“Alright, I won’t tell him. But are we just going to keep things like before or…?”
“Keep it a secret right now. Secret for now that you and I...” Lacy held one of Robert’s hands as she stopped hugging him. “That you and I are together. Until I am ready to tell Ronnie.”
“So you’re going to continue screwing Ronnie?!” Robert glared. She shook her head.
“No… I won’t let him. I will try to stop him from any kissing too.” Lacy stared at Robert. “You aren’t mad at me are you?”
“I am surprised actually.” Robert was. “I am surprised that you li-like me the most.” Robert felt nervous about it.
“I want to go on more dates with you, I want to spend more time together, and I love kisses from you.” Lacy tells Robert and felt embarrassed. He felt surprised still with what Lacy told him.
“A-Are you sure?” Robert asks. “You really are not joking?”
“Robert! I already told you that I am not joking!” Lacy stopped looking at Robert and looked down. “I… I am sorry. Would you still love to be with me even though I slept with Ronnie?” Lacy asks nervously.
“You think I care about that? You just better not do it again with him.” Robert said and made her look at him. He was touching her face. They both had their hearts beating fast. Both were blushing red at each other. “Lacy… I really thought love never existed. I thought it wasn’t real. It was because of my parents. They had a terrible relationship. As I was growing up, I thought to myself that love doesn’t exist and my parents are proof of that. I thought love was all false and that people only lust after one another. I thought it wasn’t real and that I would never experience any of it. But… You changed my thoughts and feelings.” Robert took his hand off her face and was playing with her hair. “Now I know I was wrong.”
“Robert…” Lacy felt like she wanted to cry again.
“You made me realize that I do have feelings. Strong feelings. You made me realize that there is love. It hurts sometimes but… I really… Lacy I love you.”
“I love you too! I do!” Lacy started crying again. Robert stops playing with her hair to bring her close to him. He hugs her. Lacy wraps her arms around him and cried on him.
The day went by quickly and Lacy had gone home before Ronnie and Bryan came home. When they got home, they were eating dinner. Ronnie, Bryan, Robert, and Brice were eating. Amy was also eating with them.
“This food is delicious. You are an excellent cook.” Amy compliments Brice’s cooking.
“I wanted to make dinner tonight for you.” Brice flirts a little with Amy. She blushed.
“Lacy and I are dating now… Things are going too fast, but… Ronnie is going to be between depressed and pissed with the both of us. I don’t know how Lacy is going to break it to him. She told me to wait and don’t say anything. I guess she wants to break it to him one day when she gets the courage. But… I don’t want him touching her anymore.” Robert thought to himself. He was deep in thought and barely was eating any of his food.
“Craig does some funny things, doesn’t he?” Bryan asked Ronnie and was laughing a little.
“Yeah, remember what he said?” Ronnie chuckled a little with Bryan. They were talking together about when they went to hang with Craig and Max. Craig said something it didn’t make sense that they all thought was funny when they were there. Brice and Amy seemed to be in a conversation as well. Robert wasn’t talking to any of them. Robert stood up. Everyone stopped talking and stared at him.
“Is something the matter?” Brice asks.
I feel sick…I want to lay down.” Robert excused himself from the table. He left the kitchen. Robert went upstairs and into his bedroom to lay straight down on the bed. “I feel so weird… Lacy isn’t going to want Ronnie again is she?” Robert thought to himself. He hoped she wouldn’t cry to him later and want to date Ronnie again too. He wanted to be just the two of them now. No more backing out unless they break up, but Robert didn’t want to break up with her.
“Damn… I feel like I knew Lacy for a while now.” Robert mumbles.
The next few days were hard for Robert and Lacy. They didn’t tell anyone about their relationship. Ronnie thought everything was still the same and was completely unaware that his brother was together with Lacy. He still thought they both were with her.
“Lacy is coming over to watch a movie today. She called and told me that.” Ronnie tells Robert.
“I…I know.” Robert felt nervous.
“It’s nice isn’t it? Dad is out on a date with Amy and Bryan is spending the night with Craig and Max. We can be alone with Lacy.”
“Yeah.” Robert really wanted to be alone with Lacy. Actually alone without Ronnie there. The doorbell rung.
“That might be Lacy now.” Ronnie left the living room. Robert looks down.
“I don’t understand why Lacy just won’t tell him now and get it over with.” Robert pulled a cigarette out and lights it. He starts smoking. Lacy and Ronnie came into the living room.
“Does anyone want snacks or drinks?” Ronnie asks.
“Sure, make popcorn and bring soda.” Lacy tells Ronnie. He left to the kitchen. Lacy sat down next to Robert.
“When are you going to tell him?” Robert asks. “Or are you just going to keep things the way they are?”
“No! I will tell him!” Lacy whispers. “And be quiet, I don’t want him to get suspicious.” Lacy holds one of Robert’s hands. “I don’t know how to tell him yet.”
“You better. No kissing him tonight.” Robert says to her. “You’re mine now.”
“I know.”
Ronnie came back into the living room and Lacy quickly moves her hand away from Robert’s. Ronnie sat the snacks down on the coffee table and turns the movie on. He then turned the lights out and sat down by Lacy. She was in the middle of them both.
“I need to tell Ronnie one day. The truth.” Lacy didn’t even realize as the movie went on she leaned her head on Robert’s shoulder. “Ronnie will be crushed. He probably will hate me. We probably won’t remain friends. I feel like an asshole.” Lacy thought to herself. Ronnie was eating some popcorn but he sits it down and holds one of Lacy’s hands. “He’s holding one of my hands!” Lacy panicked. She knew Robert was going to get angry with her. She didn’t know what to do. Robert puts his cigarette out and Lacy moves her head from his shoulder. Robert puts his hand on one of Lacy’s knees. He squeezed it hard.
“I wish she would get Ronnie’s hand off of hers.” Robert knew what Ronnie did and it was getting him angry. Lacy felt the tension and quickly moved her hand from Ronnie’s hand and pretended to brush a piece of hair out of her face. Robert lets go of Lacy’s knee. Robert felt like he wasn’t into the movie much. He felt jealous. He didn’t like Ronnie being there watching a movie with them. Robert got up and left the living room.
“Robert… I hope he isn’t too mad.” Lacy thought to herself.
“You like the movie so far?” Ronnie asks Lacy. She nods.
“Yes! I do.” Lacy lied. She really had no clue what the movie was even about. “Hey my drink is running low so I am going to get another. Alright?” Lacy stood up.
“Hurry back.” Ronnie tells her. She ran off. Lacy was looking for Robert but he pulled her into the bathroom and shuts the door.
“I am getting pissed off!” Robert glares at her. “You either keep your distance from him or I am going to punch him. Your choice.”
“Wait! Please don’t!” Lacy knew that Robert was angry. “I am really having a hard time trying to break it to him and why are you acting so jealous all of a sudden?!”
“Lacy… I really…” Robert lets out a big sigh. “I really don’t want to be, but… after you told me.” Robert blushes a little. “After you told me that, I feel like I am just so jealous if you’re near him now.”
“Robert, control yourself. I will not kiss him or touch him alright? Let’s get back to the living room.” Lacy pressed her lips on Robert’s for a quick kiss. She then left the bathroom and went to get a drink in the kitchen. Robert went back to the living room and sat down. This time by Ronnie.
“What’s taking Lacy so long?” Ronnie asked.
“How the hell should I know?” Robert responded.
“Is something the matter? I feel like… Things are really weird you know? I feel like you been a little angry with me and Lacy acts like she’s nervous to be around me. Did something happen?” Ronnie felt like he had to ask this. He was noticing something had to be up but he couldn’t tell what. Robert couldn’t tell him because he promised Lacy he wouldn’t tell Ronnie anything. That he would let her take care of explaining it all to Ronnie.
“Nothing is wrong. I just been irritated by the weather. It’s so damn hot.” Robert said. Ronnie felt relief.
“That’s good. I thought maybe you were angry with me and maybe… Lacy was too.” Ronnie looked down. “You two wouldn’t hide anything from me, would you?” Ronnie looked at his older brother. Robert wasn’t even sure what to say or respond. He felt like he was in a tight spot that he didn’t want to answer. The truth was, Lacy and him were both hiding something from Ronnie. The two began a real relationship behind his back without even telling him. Lacy came into the living room. Robert felt safe for now. Lacy sat down next to Robert.
“Sorry if it took so long. I had a hard time thinking which drink I wanted.” Lacy said and opened her soda. She took a sip of it. Ronnie looked at Lacy.
“You and Robert wouldn’t hide anything from me, would you?” He asked her. Lacy spits her drink out. She wasn’t sure why Ronnie would ask her such a question.
“No! I wouldn’t! Why would you think such a thing?!” Lacy yelled at Ronnie.
“I…I didn’t think you would.” Ronnie could tell he made Lacy upset. “Lacy, I am sorry.” Ronnie apologized. Lacy looks down and sat her drink on the coffee table.
“Look at me. Yelling at him. Why did I do that? Why am I even lying to him?” Lacy thought to herself feeling bad.
