Alana was sitting on her bed. She was thinking about Max. Thinking about what he had asked her. She wasn’t sure what to give him for an answer. She didn’t hate Max. In fact, he was her friend. He was someone that always seem to talk to her. She knew somewhat about his life and he knew somewhat about hers. But she never did think she had a crush on him, but when she was alone with him. She noticed her heart pounded. She felt nervous and wasn’t sure what she felt.
“Max seems like a nice guy, but I don’t know if I want to go into a relationship with him. I thought I liked Craig, but I don’t know! I feel so nervous.” Alana wasn’t sure what to do. “Maybe I can talk to a girl.” Alana dialed up Katie’s phone. Katie wasn’t home as she got answered from Katie’s mom. She then decided to call up Lacy. Her other friend that she could discuss more serious matters with. Alana couldn’t discuss much with Madison. Madison was young and didn’t really know much about dating.
“Hello?” Lacy asked as she picked up the phone.
“Lacy, this is Alana. I need help!”
“What is it?” Lacy asked.
“Max asked me out! And I don’t know what to say!”
“Do you like him? That flirt?” Lacy asks. Alana wasn’t sure what to say. Her face was all red.
“I don’t know! I felt weird around him and we kissed! I wasn’t sure what to think and when he asked me out I panicked and ran off! I don’t know what to do! I do talk to him and he is a great friend.”
“Did you like the kiss?” Lacy asks Alana. Alana wasn’t sure if she wanted to answer that. She took a deep breath.
“Yes.” Alana admits. “I liked it so much I kissed him back and I felt like I couldn’t stop. I wanted more.”
“You might like him. Why don’t you just date him and see if you do? Try a couple of dates with him and see how it goes.” Lacy suggested.
“That does seem like a good idea. Thank you.”
“No problem. I am having problems with Robert. He gave me a stupid message on the phone when I came home. I hope he pukes soon, that butthole.” Lacy said and Alana laughed a little.
“Maybe he was just upset. What happened? What did he say?” Alana asks.
“Told me that he couldn’t do anything anymore with me. Told me he wants to date other women and that he can’t take it anymore with me. I don’t know, I guess I really am the one to blame. I shouldn’t be trying to have two guys. The world doesn’t work that way. And if I am pregnant, I might as well stay with the father.”
“Teen pregnancy must be hard. Is it hard?” Alana asks Lacy.
“So far, yes.” Lacy admits. “My parents, I can tell they really aren’t happy with me for it. But my mom is trying to support me and not yell at me.”
“I hope you would be alright. I am also going to consider what you told me about Max. Bye.” Alana said and hung up. “I need to call Max now. Tell him that I will consider his feelings and see how a date goes.“ Alana felt nervous. She wasn’t sure if she wanted to call Max right away and tell him that. She felt nervous.
Max was lying on his bed. “I made a fool of myself!” Max thought. “But she kissed me back…” Max blushes. He really liked Alana. He wished that she would answer him and date him. He wanted her answer to be ‘yes’. “She probably doesn’t like me, that’s why she ran off.” Max sat up. He felt upset. For a while now, he had a big crush on Alana. He only told Craig about it because Craig is his best friend. Even though Max liked to hang with Bryan sometimes, he never told him about Alana. Bryan didn’t seem the type to be interested in dating or so Max thought.
Max went out of his bedroom, he heard the front door opening. “Grandpa must be home.” Max thought to himself. He decided to go back into his bedroom and shuts the door. He didn’t want to talk to his grandpa at the moment. It was hard sometimes talking to him. He heard talking. Max opened the door and decided to listen to what he had heard.
“I think living together would be a wonderful idea. Max can be with his parents and you will be able to see him too.” Max’s mother, Davina tells Max’s grandpa, Nelson.
“I don’t think that would be a good idea! I don’t think I want to consider it.” Nelson said.
“But dad, you really should. I want Max to live with us. He’s my son. Not yours. I thought you agreed to it. Why are you not anymore? We got the house and moving stuff in it now. Why don’t you take a look at it?” Max’s dad, Harlan said.
“I don’t need to look at that damn house! I changed my mind. I don’t want Max being around you.” Nelson glares at Davina.
“Why do you keep picking on me?” Davina started to cry.
“Because, you separated my son and me. You were a little slut that just couldn’t go away.”
“Dad! Don’t call her that! She isn’t that! She’s only been with me! Why do you always pick on her?” Harlan was mad at his dad. He didn’t like when he picked on Davina.
“I understand what I did was wrong. Getting pregnant so young with Max. I understand that. But I love Max because he’s my son and I want to take care of him. And I love Harlan. I married him because I wanted to be with him.”
“I don’t care!” Nelson snaps back at her.
“You said you were done with this! Why are you trying to keep Max from us?!” Harlan glares at his dad.
Max heard everything. He went straight to them. “Mom! Dad!” He says. They stared at him. “Grandpa! I want to live with my parents! Why can’t I live with them?! And you can live there too! I don’t’ want to fight anymore! Why can’t we be a happy family?” Max asked.
“You are just a child. You don’t understand anything.” Nelson replied to Max.
“I don’t care! Grandpa! Shouldn’t it be my decision?!” Max just wanted it to end. He thought the feud was going to be over. He thought he was finally going to move in with his parents. Into a house and the family being together. He couldn’t stand being apart from his parents. He wanted to learn about them and spend time with them. He never got to growing up. Thinking that they both were gone.
“We shouldn’t fight. He is right. Why can’t we just all apologize?” Davina asks. Nelson just didn’t want to. He felt angry still. In reality, he still couldn’t believe it. His son got with a younger girl like he did. But instead, Harlan didn’t lose Davina yet. Nelson lost his girlfriend after she had Harlan.
“Dad, I understand what happened between you and mom, but please don’t get angry. You should try to move on and find someone else. If you want love again.” Harlan suggested to his father. “I am sure mom wouldn’t mind.”
Nelson walks away. “Dad, are we still moving together in the house?” Max asked.
“We’re working on it. Your grandpa decided to change his mind at the last minute. I guess because he is still upset that he doesn’t have your grandma.” Harlan tells his son. Max felt bad for his grandpa, but he couldn’t stand him picking on his parents.
“Being a young mom is hard.” Davina sighs. “I really want to be happy and have you living with us, Max.” Davina said and smiles at Max. He stares at her.
“Mom, why does my grandpa want me? I look a lot like you.” Max laughed.
“You do look a lot like your mother.” Harlan said noticing as he stared at Max. “Louie looks a lot like me. Sherry looks like your mom too.”
“Where are they?” Max asked.
“Louie and Sherry at home. We wanted to bring them, but they didn’t want to come. We told them to not open the door for no one. We should get going.” Harlan said and him and Davina left. Max went to find his grandpa. He wanted to speak to him. When he found his grandpa, he saw him sitting on the bed in his bedroom.
“Grandpa?”
“What is it? Came to yell at me?” Nelson asks. Max shook his head.
“No. I want to speak what I want to say. First of all, I want to live with my parents. I don’t hate you, but it’s not fair to me to not being able to bond ever with my parents. I want to. Grandpa, that doesn’t mean I hate you. I don’t hate you, but this is getting ridiculous. I want us all to be a family and be happy.”
“Can’t you tell I can never be happy seeing your mother and father together?” Nelson seemed to be angry.
“Grandpa! Stop being jealous. Stop it. Don’t be jealous of them. You should go out and find a girlfriend then if you want love too. Stop acting like a big baby and go out there!” Max snaps at his grandpa.
“But what if your grandmother wouldn’t approve of it?”
“Grandpa, grandma isn’t here. She hasn’t been here for years. Do you think she would want you to be miserable and lonely all these years? I am sure she would want you to be happy and find someone else. Someone else that can bring you happiness like she could. I know you can’t replace her, but you can learn to love again. And I am sure grandma would’ve expected the same from you.” Max said in a calm voice to his grandpa. Hearing that made Nelson feel better.
“I been thinking all this time that she would’ve of been upset with me. That she wouldn’t forgive me.” Nelson said.
“Don’t think like that. Be happy and let’s move in with mom and dad. And when we do, you can try getting a girlfriend.” Max said with a smile. Nelson smiles back at his grandson.
Alana decided to call up her father. He was still in the hospital. “Daddy?”
“What is it?” Cliff asked his daughter.
“I miss you. Are you ever going to come home again? Are you and mom fighting?” Alana asked.
“I want to come home, but I have to wait two more days. The doctors gave me two more days and they’ll let me out. I don’t know how long I’ll be out though.” Cliff responds to Alana. “And your mother and I are fighting. I don’t know what to do. Alana, I need to be honest with you. Please don’t hate me, but I don’t love your mother. I never loved her. You’re older now and I think I should tell you all of this.”
“Tell me what?” Alana asks.
“About what really happened? In the past, I was really in love with another girl. Her name was ‘Calluna’. I wanted to be with her and marry her, my parents didn’t approve of it because she didn’t come from a rich family. They were forcing a arrange marriage for me with Cheyanne, your mother, and I couldn’t stand it! I really wanted to be with Calluna. Calluna was my first girlfriend and the one that I wanted to spend my life with. She had two sons with me. Lionel and Tj. Well, Thomas is his real name.”
“What? I have two older brothers?” Alana asks confused.
“Tj should be about 15 or 16. Lionel is about 17 or 18. I can’t really remember.” Cliff tells Alana.
“If you didn’t like my mom, how did you have me with her?” Alana asked curiously.
“That night, your mom got me drunk and… well then she said she was pregnant.”
“Are you even sure I am yours then?” Alana asked.
“Yes, you are. I did a DNA test on you when you were born. Your mother acted like she was happy to be having a girl but got angry when you were growing up and didn’t look like her or act like her. I am thinking of divorcing your mother and taking custody of you. I want to be with Calluna. I have been speaking with her for a year now and she wants to still be with me.”
“Oh. What about grandma and grandpa?” Alana was confused on what was going on.
“I don’t care if they get upset or mad at me. I want to be with Calluna. She is the one. I don’t want you to be angry with me.”
“No. I am not angry with you. I can’t be angry with you. You were always nice to me growing up and tried to take care of me even though you kept getting sick. I want you to be happy. You deserve to.” Alana liked her dad and wanted him to be happy.
