The next day had come and Katie and Robert went on their date. Ronnie and Lacy also went on a date together. Madison and Alana were at the store together.
“Do you think Katie is going to have fun on her date with Robert?” Madison asks Alana.
“I am sure. She said he was taking her out to eat and then maybe go somewhere to have fun. Right?” Alana was trying to make sure she heard right. Madison nods.
“I just wish I could go out on dates.”
“You mean with Ronnie?” Alana asked and giggled a little. Madison blushes.
“But… he’s dating Lacy. I feel like a nobody.” Madison picked up a dress.
You aren’t a nobody, and if you don’t end up with Ronnie, I am sure someone else would like you and want to be with you. “ Alana didn’t want Madison to be upset.
“Look at this dress!” Madison shows Alana the dress that she picked up. It was pink, red, and white. It had lace on it with ribbons. It had hearts on it as well.
“Aw! That’s so cute! It looks like it could be a Valentine’s Day dress!” Alana said with a smile. Madison agreed.
“I think I want to get it so I can wear it for Valentine’s Day at school.” Madison smiles.
“I think that would be nice to do. I need an outfit too.” Alana picked up a white blouse. It had pink lace. “This looks like it could be an idea. I just need a skirt to go with it.”
“You like cute things like I do.” Madison smiles. “Katie doesn’t like wearing that all the time.”
“I noticed, but Katie is a great friend. I just met her recently and I feel like she’s like a sister to me.”
“What about me?” Madison asks.
“You too. You seem like a little sister to me.” Alana answered with a smile. “How did you two meet anyways?”
“It was a long time ago actually. I met her when I was about 7-years-old. I think.” Madison says and then picked up another dress.
“That wasn’t too long ago. How old are you?”
“11. Almost 5 years ago when we first met.”
“How old is Katie? Is she 14 like me?” Alana asks. Madison nods. “She was about 10 when you met her then.”
“Yes, she was very kind to me back in elementary school. We met at the playground first, but then I bumped into not into school. We just became close. Our parents were friends and were surprised that we all lived near each other.”
“That sounds nice.” Alana said to Madison and picked up a skirt.
“It is nice.” Madison picked up yet another dress.
Katie and Robert were on their date together at a café. “Thanks for taking me out again.” Katie blushes and took a sip of her tea.
“Katie, we been going on dates for a week now, and yet, you still never let me kiss you.” Robert said looking at Katie. She looks down.
“I feel nervous about it, because I want to get to really know you first. You know?”
“Yes I know, but Katie you’re going to make any guy think you don’t like them if you don’t even let them kiss you.” Robert said and took started drinking some of his coffee. Katie looks down.
“I hope he isn’t getting sick of me already. I don’t want him to be. I just don’t want to be rushed.” Katie thinks to herself.
“After this, where did you wanted to go? An arcade?” Robert asks.
“I guess that would be fine.” Katie replies. She didn’t want Robert to think she was boring.
What she didn’t know was that Robert wasn’t enjoying himself the past week. He didn’t really care for taking Katie out. He honestly didn’t want to date her anymore. After dating her for a week, he knew for sure that she wasn’t the one for him.
“Katie isn’t ugly. She’s pretty, it’s just… I really don’t feel like I like her that way.” Robert thought to himself. “What am I saying? Love doesn’t exist.” Robert wasn’t sure how he felt about being on the date anymore with Katie. Robert stood up.
“Is something the matter?” Katie asks him.
“Yes. I have to cut this date short.”
“Why?” Katie asked upset.
“I got a headache and I don’t feel good.” Robert lies. Katie looked disappointed.
“I hope you feel better. Would you like to plan another day for a date?” Katie asks him.
“Sure, just call me later.” Robert left. Katie felt upset. She looks down.
“I don’t think he’s sick. Actual sick. I feel like he’s just sick of me. Doesn’t want to be with me.” Tears starting running down Katie’s face. “Who am I to kid? Robert likes Lacy. I know he does. He really likes her. I am such a fool.” Katie felt upset. Craig happened to come into the café and noticed Katie crying. He came over and sat down by her.
“Is something the matter?” Craig asked her with a concerned look on his face.
“No. I’m fine.” Katie lies and dries her tears.
“Katie, you been dating Robert. Did he break up with you?” Craig asked. She shook her head.
“He said he felt sick. His head was hurting.” Katie answered honestly. “But I… I just…” Katie started crying again.
“Katie, tell me what’s wrong? Why are you upset?” Craig asks.
“I feel like he’s actually sick of me. I know Robert loves Lacy. He likes her. Not me.” Katie said and took a napkin to help wipe her tears.
“I don’t know why he would get sick of you.” Craig says trying to cheer her up. “You’re pretty, sweet, and a very nice girl.” Katie blushes.
“Thank you. But I don’t think I am all those.”
“You are.” Craig touches one of her hands. “If it’s not working out for you and Robert, then break up with him. There’s plenty of guys out there.”
“Craig.” Katie smiles a little. “Thanks. You really know how to cheer up a girl.”
“It’s my charm.” Craig laughs a little. Katie laughs a little too. Craig stares at her. “Her laugh.” Craig thought to himself blushing a little. When Katie smiled and laughed Craig couldn’t help but stare. He thought Katie was really pretty.
“I should.” Katie said getting up. “Thanks again.” Katie left the café.
“I never knew how cute Katie really is.” Craig thought to himself.
And then Valentine’s Day had come. Katie was supposed to be going on a date with Robert. She didn’t break up with Robert yet. She had a feeling though. A bad feeling. Robert had came to the park where the two were meeting at. It was a cold day, and Katie just wanted to get going.
“Hey.” Katie says and smiles a little at Robert.
“Hey.” He replies back. She tried to brush off the bad feeling. The feeling that he didn’t really like her. She grabs his hand and they both leave the park.
“Where are you taking me?” Katie asked. She was hoping it was somewhere special. She wanted their relationship to go further and be closer together. Robert had taken Katie right to his house. “Is this your house?” Katie asks confused.
“Yes.” He replies and lets her in.
“It’s a nice house.” Katie said looking around. “Nicer than my home.”
“Thanks.” Robert cues Katie to come upstairs with him and she does. He takes her to his bedroom. “Sorry, I share with Ronnie.”
“Oh, where is Ronnie?”
“Took Lacy out on a date I believe.” Robert replies. Katie stares at Robert. She wondered why he wanted to take her to his place. She was hoping he wasn’t planning something dirty with her. She didn’t want to sleep with him for the first time on Valentine’s Day. Robert closes his bedroom door and took his coat off. He then sits down on his bed.
“You can sit by me if you want.” Robert tells her. She did as he said and removed her coat.
“Like music?”
“I do.” Katie answers. Robert turned the radio on and started to play music. The music he was playing was something Katie didn’t listen to, but she didn’t complain.
Ronnie and Lacy were out together. “Lacy, I can’t stop thinking about how much I love you.” Ronnie said and brings Lacy close to him and hugs her. She blushes red. “Everything about you, I just like.”
“Ronnie…” She says and felt her heart beat fast.
“Every since the day I first saw you, I liked you. I wanted to help you. Take care of you.”
“Ronnie, that’s really sweet of you.” Lacy said and made Ronnie let her go.
“Do you love only me? You don’t like Robert, right?” Lacy couldn’t respond to Ronnie’s question. The truth was that she likes Robert too besides Ronnie. She didn’t’ know who to chose until the day her mom caught her. She decided to chose Ronnie, but she wasn’t so sure if she had made the right choice. She still thought about Robert and worried about him, but decided to not ever react upon those feeling as long as she was with Ronnie. She could never kiss Robert again, touch him, or even think dirty thoughts about him. It had to be about Ronnie. It wouldn’t be fair to Ronnie, unless she were to break it off with him.
“I…” Lacy looks down.
“Please don’t tell me you like him.” Ronnie looked disappointed.
“I like him, but… I don’t love him.” Lacy lies. She didn’t know what to do. She didn’t want to hurt Ronnie’s feelings. She felt bad lying to him.
“Good.” Ronnie says and grabs her hand and walks with her.
