It was a hot day in May. It was getting close to the end of the school year. There was about a week left to do. Bryan was sitting at his desk and working on a assignment that the teacher assigned the class to do. He had to write three paragraphs for a book report about a book that the whole class had read together. The teacher wanted a nice book report that was written good.
“Dad doesn’t mind if I go to summer camp. I can be with Madison and we can have fun together there I guess. I wasn’t really sure about going there, but if Madison is going to go to that will make me really happy.” Bryan glances at Madison. She was near him. She was writing her book report down. She didn’t even look back at Bryan. She seemed to be too busy trying to write.
“I hate book reports. This is really annoying. Why do they make us do this?” Madison wondered. “School will be over next week. Do we really need to work on work?” Madison just didn’t want to do the book report. She was still writing the first paragraph and didn’t even get to the other two yet. She was struggling about what to write. She read the story with the whole class, but she didn’t pay much attention to the story. Since she didn’t pay much attention to the story, she was facing the consequences now for it.
Michael seemed to be doing alright and was almost finished with the book report. He was on the last paragraph and almost had it complete. “I wished this wasn’t so hard!” Madison thought as she began to erase some of the paragraph that she wrote. She couldn’t even think how to write it right. She felt hopeless about it.
After school, Madison came over to get help with her book report from Bryan. He had completed his already and offered to help Madison. Michael also got his completed. Robert and Ronnie decided to go out and hang with Lacy, Craig, and Katie. It was almost like a double date. But Lacy actually had two dates with her.
“See how mine looks?” Bryan shows Madison. “You can’t copy word from word from me but you can write something similar. You can’t even remember the book we all read in class together?” Bryan asked.
“Not really… I didn’t pay much attention to it.” Madison admits. “I didn’t think the teacher would actually make us write a book report about it.”
“I guess it can’t be helped. Just read my book report and see if you remember anything from the story.” Bryan said and hands his paper to Madison. She took the paper and began to read it. Bryan had sloppy handwriting but she could read it still.
Robert, Ronnie, and Lacy were sitting at a table. Across from them was Craig and Katie. “Why did you both really just deicide to date Lacy? Isn’t it hard and weird?” Katie asks.
“I don’t like it, but… I don’t want to part from Lacy.” Ronnie says and blushes a little. Lacy began to blush. Katie stared at Robert.
“Is that the same for you too?” She asks. He didn’t say anything. Robert took a sip of his drink with his straw. Katie couldn’t understand why Robert wanted to be with Lacy and allow her to be with Ronnie at the same time. It just seemed weird and confusing. It didn’t seem right for either of them, but Katie couldn’t say anything because it was their decision.
“What do you want to do after this?” Craig asks. “We can all still hang out if that is alright?”
“Usually we don’t always hang out with others but…” Ronnie looks over at Katie and Craig. “But I guess it’s alright. I don’t know.”
“Yeah, you three never really hung with others before. It’s really different now.” Craig said with a smile.
“I guess there’s no reason not to be friends if we all sit at the table together at lunch.” Lacy said. She was looking down at her food on her plate. Robert glances at Lacy.
“I really can’t stand the thought of not being around Lacy. I don’t understand all what Stephanie meant. Sometimes she told truth but not always. She’s gone now and…” Robert grabs Lacy’s hand that she wasn’t using to eat with. Lacy held his hand back.
Bryan helped Madison finish up her book report. “That was tiring. I am glad that it’s all done.” Madison says feeling relief.
“That’s the last thing to turn in for class.” Bryan says to her. “Did you start packing your things for camp?”
“Not yet. I know camp starts soon after school is over, but I haven’t started to pack yet. I probably should pack more shorts than skirts and dresses. I don’t want to get my really cute clothes dirty and all muddy.” Madison said and Bryan laughed a little. “What’s so funny?” She glares at him now.
“Nothing. I think it’s really cute. You look cute in your cute clothes.” Bryan tells her. Madison blushes.
“Y-You really think so?” She asks nervously.
“Yeah!” Bryan answered. Madison blushes more. Bryan stopped smiling and blushes at her.
“Usually you like to insult me.” Madison said and looks at him with a smile. “But lately… Since we finally told each other how we felt we haven’t done that anymore. We just seem to get along.”
“I… I noticed that too.”
“Katie is on a date with Craig but she is having a double date. Robert and Ronnie are there with Lacy too right?” Madison asks. Bryan nods.
“I think it’s weird that they both want to date Lacy. Don’t you?”
“It is weird. Do you think we can… um…” Madison began to get nervous and shy. She wanted to ask Bryan out on a date but wasn’t sure if she should.
“What?” Bryan asks.
“Do you think we could go out on a date too?” Madison asks. Her heart was beating fast. Bryan felt his heart starting to beat fast.
“S-Sure. If you want to.” He responds. “I think I have some allowance money.” Bryan got up off the floor of his bedroom and went to his end table by his bed. He had a piggybank that was the shape of a teddy bear. He opened it up and was getting all his change out and money that he had put into the small bank.
“I can get my money too.” Madison says and stood up. “I can help pay for stuff too.”
“You don’t have to!” Bryan got all his money out.
“It’s alright. We both can pay for each other.” Madison smiled. “You want to come with me to my house?”
“Alright.” Bryan had left with Madison to her home. When he got to her house, he went straight to her bedroom with her. Madison’s bedroom was cute. The floor had a cream colored carpet. Her walls were the color of cream with a border of pink hearts. Her pillow on her bed was yellow along with her bed sheets. Her bed sheets had pink plaid on it along with the yellow. Her bedroom was full of dolls and stuff animals. It was cute.
“Y-You got a lot of stuff.” Bryan said looking around at Madison’s bedroom. She pulls out a box of her closet. The box was even cute. She opened it up when she sat it on her desk. There was some money in it. She takes it out and sits it on the table. She got the box and puts it straight back into her closet. She pulled a white and sky blue purse out of the closet and puts the money into it.
“Let’s go.” Madison said and held Bryan’s hand.
Robert, Ronnie, Lacy, Katie, and Craig had left the small restaurant. “We can go into a store and get some things.” Craig suggested.
“Let’s go to the mall!” Katie smiled at Craig. She held his hand and he held hers back. She blushes. Robert and Ronnie were already holding both of Lacy’s hands. They all decided to go to the mall that was nearby. When they got there, they went to a small store right away. “Look at this shirt!” Katie shows Craig. “Do you think it will look good on me?” She asked when she picked it up.
“I think it will.” Craig responds. Katie seemed to be happy and Craig liked seeing her happy.
“So, did you do it with her yet?” Ronnie asks Craig. Ronnie laughed a little.
“No. I didn’t.” Craig responds.
“You haven’t?” Ronnie was surprised. “I thought you were a player?”
“I am not that anymore. That’s the past and I don’t want to hurt Katie. I really like her.” Craig says to Ronnie. Katie stared at them both after she picked up another shirt.
“What are you two talking about?” Katie asks.
“Nothing.” Craig responds. Robert and Lacy were looking at some other clothes.
“I don’t think I really am interested in any of these clothes.” Lacy tells Robert.
“I rather see you in something sexy and dark.” Robert said to Lacy. She blushes a little and flashes a devilish smile.
“I agree.” She said. Ronnie came over by them.
“This store doesn’t really seem great to me, but Katie seems to like it.” Ronnie said to the two.
“That’s because it’s stuff she mainly likes.” Lacy walks over to some jewelry. “This actually looks alright.” Lacy picked up a necklace. She was looking at it. It was a cross shape and was silver.
“Are you going to buy that?” Robert asks her. She sets it back down and shook her head. Katie had bought two shirts and they left and went into another little store in the mall. This time, Lacy was able to find some things. Robert and Ronnie were also able to.
“This seems like their kind of store.” Katie said to Craig and laughed a little. Craig laughed also.
Lacy had gotten herself two miniskirts, pants, long stockings, and some tops to go with her bottoms. Robert and Ronnie got a few shirts and pants.
Madison and Bryan were walking around in town together. “Where do you want to go?” Madison asks Bryan. “We can do a lot of fun things.”
“Let’s go to a toy store!” Bryan said. Madison liked the idea.
“I can look for dolls!” She smiled happily. They both were very childish but didn’t care.
The day seemed to go by quickly and was now in the evening. Robert and Ronnie had went over Lacy’s home. Katie and Craig were saying goodbye to each other. Craig had walked Katie home.
“Thank you so much. Today was really fun.” Katie said blushing.
“I am glad that you had fun.” Craig said with a smile.
“Craig… I don’t understand. You…” Katie looks down. “You keep wanting to hang with me, why not your mother? Isn’t she home now?”
“That is true. I have been letting dad hang with her the most and Sabrina. Sabrina was so young when mom left us. I want her to spend a lot of time with her.”
“Why don’t you spend some more time with your mom too? Did you miss her?” Katie asks and looked at Craig.
“I…I did miss her.” Craig was no longer smiling. “But I don’t want to be selfish. I want dad to be able to spend as much time with mom. Sabrina too.”
“Craig you should spend time with her too! You missed her like Sabrina did. You also… She’s your mom. Craig, I want to spend more time with you too but… For the weekend I want you to spend as much time as you can with your family.”
“Are you sure?” Craig asked. Katie nods.
“I want you to spend time with your mom. She’s home now.” Katie replied.
