Lacy heard the message that Robert left her on the phone. She was mad at him. She was in the bedroom and sitting on her bed.”That stupid jerk! Maybe I should just stay with Ronnie? He never treated me wrong and has been nice to me. And besides that…” Lacy touches her stomach. “I think he’s the father anyways.” There was a knock at the door. It startled Lacy a little. “What is it?”
“Can I come in?” Rick asked his daughter.
“Go ahead.” Lacy answered. Rick came into the bedroom.
“I need to talk to you.”
“About what?” Lacy asks.
“I been checking out some homes nearby and so far I might have deal.”
“Really?! That quick?!” Lacy couldn’t believe it.
“Well, I got a lot of money from a piece I sold at work, and I think everything is looking great for now. Your mom is trying to figure out a way to move out of the apartment with James so we can all live together in the house. And I am going to work my hardest to try to adopt Peg. It will be hard though.” Rick explains to Lacy.
“I hate Peg.”
“You shouldn’t hate her. She really is your older half sister. Even though she is short and doesn’t look her age.” Rick said and Lacy looks down. “What’s the matter?”
“It’s that dumb Robert.”
“You mean the one that made you cry recently?” Rick asked. Lacy nods slowly. “What did he do now?”
“He left a mean message on the phone for me. It really hurt me. Dad, I don’t even know if I want to talk to him anymore. For now.” Lacy honestly answered.
“If he’s hurting your feelings, then don’t talk to him. Why not just date his brother Ronnie? He seemed like a nice kid. Even though I do not approve of you doing anything with him.” Rick said to her. She laughs a little.
“Dad, I am pregnant. And I don’t even know if it’s by Ronnie. It might be.” Lacy said. “I feel like it is his baby.”
“If you have a gut feeling about it, then it might be true.” Rick tells her. Rick got up and left the bedroom.
“I am happy that my mom and dad are back together and working hard to get a home together. What really hurts me though is when Robert said that to me. I guess I deserve it. I shouldn’t of thought I could have Ronnie and Robert all to myself. That really was wrong of me. I should’ve knew that Robert was hurting from all of it.”
Alana and Max decided to get something to eat together and were still talking. They had a lot to tell each other about themselves. What had been going on in their lives. Things were hard, but they still had hope for the future. After eating, Alana decided to go back with Max to his home. His grandpa was out for work. Max took Alana to his bedroom and they both were still talking.
“I can’t believe we been talking to each other for hours. It really is nice being with you. Hanging with you.” Alana said with a smile to Max. He blushes.
“Yeah… I think so too.” He nervously replies. Max really had a crush on Alana. He thought she was cute the first time he saw her. He never tried to flirt with her yet and felt too nervous and shy to. He enjoyed being around Alana and hanging with her. Every time he spoke with her, he felt like he was loving her more and more each time.
“I don’t know if I should tell you this, you may think it’s silly.” Alana looks down. Max stared at her and was concerned for her.
“What is it? You can tell me.”
“Well… I really liked this guy. I had a crush on him because he was really nice to me…” Alana blushed a little. “But I ended up getting my feelings hurt.”
“Did he hurt you? Did he cheat on you?” Max asked. Alana shook her head.
“I never got to date him. Turns out he likes someone else. One of my friends and I feel like they would make a better couple than him and I.” Alana explained. Max wasn’t sure what to say. “You really are a great friend to talk to. I have problems that I can’t talk too much with my friends. I mostly try to help them out with their problems instead of my own.”
“Alana, if that guy likes someone else, do you think it’s possible that you weren’t meant for him? Maybe there’s another guy out there that you will fall in love with that will treat you 10 times better than what that guy could’ve ever treated you.”
“I am still young. I could have many crushes or even boyfriends. But I don’t know… I really haven’t thought about dating until I saw that guy. I had a crush on him but I never told him my feelings. But he told me his feelings for this girl he likes and I really want him to be happy with her.” Alana starts to cry. “I am happy, but that really hurts me at the same time. What if I have another crush again and it turns out he doesn’t like me either?”
“Don’t say things like that. You’re a sweet girl. I am sure other guys would think so too.” Max blushes a little when we said it. He really liked Alana. He thought of her as sweet.
“You sound sure of it.” Alana dries her tears. “Maybe I am worrying over nothing. I am young. I have plenty time to find my soulmate.” Alana laughed a little. “Thank you.” Max hugs Alana. It surprised her. “Max?”
“Alana! Ever since I saw you! Every time we keep talking! I can’t stop thinking about you!” Max blurts out. His face was red as he still hugged her.
“W-What are you talking about?!” Alana was confused.
“Alana I like you so much!” Max presses his lips against Alana’s. It was his first kiss and also hers. She was surprised. She stops him.
“What are you doing?!” She asked him. She was confused.
“Can’t you tell? Are you that clueless?!”
“What? I am not clueless! You j-“ Alana couldn’t finish as Max brought her face close to his again and kissed her. Alana wasn’t sure what to think. “Does he like me?” She asked. He wasn’t a professional kisser, but some reason Alana liked it. Max kept kissing her and Alana felt like she couldn’t hold back. She kisses his lips back.
“Does she like me? Why is she kissing me?” Max asked himself. He didn’t care. He was enjoying it. He ended up pushing Alana down on his bed as they both continued to kiss. Max just felt like he was caught in the moment with Alana. She felt the same way. He didn’t realize he touched one of her breast. They part lips. Gasping for air.
“I…I never was kissed before.” Alana said staring at him. Her face was red.
“I never kissed… before either…” Max nervously responds. His face was also red.
“He really is… cute…” Alana thought as she looked at Max. “He really is handsome. So… handsome. Why didn’t I ever notice him before?” Alana wondered and then noticed Max’s hand. Where it was. Her face blushed more. “Max…”
“What is it?” He asked.
“Your hand. Your hand is on my…” Alana couldn’t finish. Max noticed and removed his hand.
“Sorry.” He was staring at her. She was staring back at him.
“Do you really like me?” Alana asked. He wasn’t sure what to say. He couldn’t even believe he blurted it out that he likes her. It was true. He did like her and now she knows.
“Alana, you’re really…” Max started to play with her hair.
“Max, I never noticed how…” Alana touches his face. “How much you like me. I never noticed how much my… my heart pounds near you…” Alana was nervous. Her face was red. Her heart was pounding.
“Alana, I really like you. I don’t want to hide it anymore. I liked you the moment I first met you. And when I got to know you more and more, I just really like you.” Alana’s face was completely red.
“You like me? You really do?” She asked. He nods. “I am not sure what to say.” Alana got nervous. She was very flattered, but she never paid attention to it. The way he made her heart pound. The way that he was always there talking to her. It made her feel different and in a good way. She turned her head and then turned it back to look at him.
“How about being my girlfriend?” Max asked her. She wasn’t sure what to reply. She felt shy about his question.
Katie had came over to visit Craig. She wanted help with some homework and he knew more about the subject than she did. “Is it wrong for me to come over at this time for homework help?” Katie asked Craig.
“Not at all.” Craig answered. He had let her in the home and shuts the door. They both decided to sit on the sofa. “What do you need help with?” He asks her.
“I need help with English. It’s so very hard! Getting the right grammar!” Katie admits.
“Let me help you.” Craig enjoyed helping Katie whenever she needed it. He felt like he really liked her and was hoping she would feel the same way about him. He still had a slight crush on Lacy, but it was fading away the more he spent time with Katie. Katie had been needing homework help and Craig has been there trying to help her through it. He was a good tutor and someone that Katie could rely on for help. He was quite good with his grades in school.
“Why do we have to have stupid questions to answer for homework?” Katie asked.
“That’s what we have to do. It’s part of school learning.”
“I hate the book that they’re trying to get the class to read. It’s very boring and I can never get all the answers right to the questions for it. I guess because I can’t pay attention very well to a boring story.” Katie laughs a little.
“I try to pay attention even though I know it’s boring too. I just have to do good in school.” Craig said and Katie stares at him.
“Is there a purpose?” Katie asked. He shook his head.
“Not really. My dad has been talking to my mom and I want to impress her I guess.” Craig replies.
“Your mother? How have she been? Has things been well with her?” Katie asks.
“Well, mom has been through a lot. She had it rough. She’s getting a lot better and in fact I think she got out of rehab sometime back and is with family. Her mother I believe. My grandma.” Craig tells Katie.
“That’s good. I know it really isn’t my business, but what happened between you and your family?” Katie asks. Craig wasn’t sure if he wanted to answer. He didn’t want to speak of his uncle. He despised his uncle.
“Well, my dad sort of flipped out a little and started drinking a lot. He was angry and mom started doing bad things too. It’s hard to explain the whole thing.” Craig didn’t know how to put it all into words to tell her. He couldn’t even tell her the whole story. Not yet. He didn’t know how to even tell her what his uncle did to him. He wasn’t sure if he wanted to tell her. He didn’t know if she wouldn’t like him if she knew the truth.
Alana was blushing at Max. Her heart was beating fast. She wasn’t sure if she could answer his question or not. When he asked her out. “Do you want to?” Max asks her. She sat up and Max did the same.
“I…I really don’t know!” Alana admits. “Maybe I should go! Can you give me some time?!” Alana nervously asks. She felt very nervous from Max’s question.
“Alright. I’ll give you time but you better answer me.” Was Max’s answer and Alana ran off.
